Email service configuration details

Email software configuration details depend on the type of service you have purchased. Please check the details associated with your hosting product only.

Planet Domain recommends the free email software Mozilla Thunderbird as the Email software of choice.

BlueTie email accounts

Incoming POP mail server: pop.bluetie.com

Username: your FULL e-mail address e.g. john.smith@domain.com.au

Password: the password as provided by the automatic notification

Planet Domain provides access to send mail using BlueTie SMTP hostname. Note that not all ISPs (Internet Service Providers) allow for sending of mail using external SMTP servers, and force their clients to use their own, so if you find that you cannot send and get errors relating to “Relay not permitted” – this means your ISP has this restriction.

Because of the increasing number of ISPs blocking mail from going out on port 25, we have added a new port (5125) to the SMTP mail server for you to be able to send using your own SMTP hostname. Note the details below, paying close attention to the port number.

Outgoing SMTP mail server: smtp.bluetie.com

Access the Advanced settings area, and change the current default displaying Port: 25, to Port: 5125

Authentication required

Authentication details are the same as your incoming server login details, and usually you can just tick a box “Use the same settings as incoming”.

cPanel linux web hosting email accounts

If you have purchased Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum Linux web hosting, you will be hosted within our shared CPanel hosting infrastructure. Details for your E-mail software for mail accounts in this system are as follows:

Incoming POP mail server: mail.YOURDOMAIN

Note: replace YOURDOMAIN with your actual domain name.

Username: your FULL e-mail address e.g. john.smith@domain.com.au

Password: the password as created by you

Note: Outlook and Mac Mail users often get an error when selecting SSL for SMTP, saying that the certificate could not be verified. If you click to Continue/OK, the message will actually be sent, and this error will not re-appear.

Windows (IIS) web hosting email accounts

If you have purchased Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum Windows web hosting, your account is hosted on our shared Windows hosting infrastructure. Details for your email software for mail accounts in this system are as follows:

Email forwarding accounts

If you have signed up for email forwarding, then you are simply forwarding mail from an Alias/Forwarder address onto an existing email account elsewhere. Follow the instructions provided by the vendor of the destination email address for your forwarders in order to configure your Email software.

Often clients use email forwarding in order to mask their ISP email address with their forwarding address. If you would like to send mail from your forwarding address, so that mail coming from you appears as your forwarding address and not your ISP, simply do the following:

1. Access your email Account Settings
2. In General information, where your name and email are specified, change the “Email” address field to match your forwarding address
3. Leave everything else as is.

Now every message you send using your email account will come from your forwarding address.
